Welcome to the Art Classroom webpage for the 2018-2019 school year! I am so excited to be given this opportunity to teach your kiddos visual arts. I am enjoying getting to know each and every one of them and seeing their own talents come out. If you visit the classroom photos page, you'll see exactly what I mean!
A little about me:
I am originally from Slayton, which is about two hours away from Renville down highway 59 towards Worthington. I grew up on an acreage just a few miles outside of town, and have always enjoyed all things art related or moreso anything that makes a mess. In one form or another, I have been doing art for 20+ years and now have two degrees art related. The first degree I pursued was Studio Art which allowed me to dive into most art mediums such as drawing, painting, ceramics, printmaking, sculpture, and a few others. I would consider my two specialties to be Painting and Ceramics - throwing on the wheel. The second degree, Art Education, came at the tail end of finishing the Studio Art degree as I discovered through teaching my peers and members of the community that teaching was something I wanted to pursue. I also discovered through my own personal trials in life that art can be therapeutic. It has been a long road to get here, but I'm thankful for where it's brought me!
